Resolution No.(73): “Deducting a Percentage from Vouchers' Value Given to Drivers for Collecting them on their Behalf“

Date: 17/2/1425 AH corresponding to 7/4/2004 AD.

 

The Board received the following question:

What is the ruling when (Aqaba Voucher Encashment Agencies for Freight Drivers) collect the sums of vouchers given to freight drivers from the (Jordan United Transport) with deducting (5%) against the effort they exert in doing that?
Answer: All success is due to Allah.
The Board is of the view that it is impermissible for the above agencies to take a percentage of the collected sums (in accordance with the manner stated above) because this transaction is parallel to usurious loaning and bill discounting. However, it is permissible for the above agencies to charge a fixed sum, not related to any percentage from the amounts due to owners or drivers of trucks, against collecting these amounts on their behalf, whether these amounts are big or small since both entail the same effort. Moreover, it is permissible for these agencies to pay the owners and drivers of these trucks the amounts due to them as a good will loan, to be collected later. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the ruling on using bank cards such as Visa and MasterCard?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upo all of his family and comapnions                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        It is permissible to use such cards in accordance with the following conditions: 1- The issuing body does not stipulate collecting interest upon late payments. 2- The merchant does not increase the price of the goods due to an increase in the commission collected from him by the card issuer. 3- The purchased item(s) should not be gold, silver or currency in case the card is not covered. And Allah Knows Best.

How should I be kind to my atheist father?

Allah, The Exalted, has decreed and ordained his slaves to be kind with parents, even if they are polytheists, by honoring and obeying them in all that isn`t sinful, so that they might love Islam and embrace it as a result.

I missed fasting 30 days of the obligatory fast within the last 6 years and 20 days. How do I fast? And what should I do? 

Missed fasting days must be made up, and it is permissible to make them up on non-consecutive days, as continuity is not required for making up missed fasts. Additionally, expiation (Fidya) must be given: feeding one needy person for each day if the makeup is delayed for one year. A person owns sheep or goats and occasionally feeds them from the grass in other people's orchards without the owners’ permission. Is it permissible to eat the meat of these animals if invited to do so? Is it permissible to purchase from these sheep whose owner feed them from people's orchards without their permission, and can one accept gifts from them, such as meat or milk?

 

 

 

Yes, it is permissible because the one who is accountable is their owner, and the cost of the grass on his accountability. In addition, in order to be on the safe side you should abstain from eating his products, because his sheep case is as if they were fed on impurities. And Allah Knows Best.
