The General Iftaa Department is pleased to extend its warmest congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Hasanat on the issuance of the royal decree appointing him as the Grand Mufti of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. What is the ruling on a young man and a young woman having a love relation for the purpose of getting married?

It is forbidden for a man and a woman to have any kind of relation whether for marriage, or not because it leads to committing sin. Such relations include: private meetings, mixing, gazing, and seclusion (Khulwa). Accordingly, one who is sincere in his intentions should go to the woman`s guardian and ask for her hand in marriage.

Is it permissible to include others in the reward of one`s sacrifice?

 

Praise be to Allah, and prayers and peace be upon our Master the Messenger of Allah.
 
It is permissible for the one offering a sacrifice (al-muḍaḥḥī) to include another person in the reward of the sacrifice, but it is not permissible for them to share in the price of the sacrifice. It is stated in Mughnī al-Muḥtāj (Vol.6/P.137) by al-Khaṭīb al-Shirbīnī: "If he includes another in the reward of his sacrifice and slaughters it on his own behalf, it is permissible." And Allah Almighty knows best.

Zakah due on a woman`s jewelry?

Obligatory Zakah (obligatory charity) isn`t due on a woman`s jewelry used for adornment, provided that the value of each piece is within the range amongst common market price. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it a condition for I‘tikaf to be performed in the mosque?

Yes, for I‘tikaf to be valid, it must be performed in a mosque. I‘tikaf is not valid if performed at home or elsewhere.
