Resolution No.(33): "Ruling on Investing Orphans` Funds into Development Bonds“

Date: 7/11/1413 AH corresponding to 29/4/1993 AD.

 

The Board has received the following question:

 

What is the Sharia ruling on investing orphans` funds in development bonds and treasury bills?

 

Answer: All success is due to Allah.

 

The Board is of the view that it is forbidden because it is a usury-based loan. And Allah Knows Best.

Summarized Fatawaa

If the fasting of nine years has accumulated upon me, I wish to make them up by dividing them over several years, as it is difficult to fast them all in one year due to their large number. Consequently, expiation will be due on me. Is it permissible to pay the expiation after completing all the make-up fasts, even if it takes years?
 
 
 
 
 

If the fasting was broken due to a valid legal excuse, it is permissible to divide the make-up fasts over several years based on one’s ability. However, if a person passes away before completing the make-up fasts, the heirs must fast on their behalf or feed one needy person for each missed day.
If the fasting was broken without a valid excuse, one must hasten to make it up. Should the person die before completing the make-up fasts, the heirs must either fast or feed the needy on their behalf. As for the expiation, it is calculated after completing all the make-up fasts. Is it permissible to donate corneas to Jordan Eye Bank or all the organs via telephone?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions.

Corneas donation that is carried out after one's death is permissible by the Board of Iftaa'. Because this procedure is highly sensitive, the donation process

should undergoes to an accredited mechanism. And Allah, The Exalted, Knows Best  

What is the ruling on eating the food prepared by Christians friends knowing that their income comes from trading in alcoholic drinks?

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.
It isn`t allowed to have the food of the person whose source of income is unlawful. However, if it is a mixture of lawful and unlawful, then it is permissible to have their food. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

What is the ruling on combining prayers at the Musala (Place for prayer) of a shopping center because of heavy rain, knowing that some people come from outside that center?

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

If there is hardship in going back to that Musala at the time of Asr or Isha` prayers, then it is permissible to combine prayers in twos only (Duhr with Asr and Maghrib with Isha`). Kindly consider calling us. And Allah Knows Best.
