Resolution No. (230) By the Board of Iftaa', Research and Islamic Studies:

"The Legitimacy of the Arab Agreement on Organizing Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues and Banning to Trade With"

Date (22/Rabea' Al-Aoal /1438 AH) corresponding to (22/12/2016 AD).

 

 All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions

On its twelfth session held on the above date, the Board reviewed the question of his Excellency, Minister of Islamic  Awqaf, Isalmic Affairs and Holy Places Dr. Wae'l Arabiat , and it reads as follows:

I have enclosed the memorandum of the General Secretariat of the Arab League No.(3/2984),(12/10/2016), in addition to the report and the recommendations issued by the concerned committee  and  representatives from Ministries of Justice, Health, Interior and Official Religious Affairs in the Arab countries, in order to prepare the draft of the Arab agreement for organizing transplantation of human organs and tissues and banning trading with them. Could your Grace clarify the legal ruling on the articles of the aforementioned agreement? After prolonged deliberations, the Board decided the following:

In light of scholars' consensus on preserving human dignity from any violation or abuse as well as earlier resolutions of the Iftaa` Board and the Islamic Fiqh Academies, the articles of the aforementioned agreement don`t violate the rules of Sharia. And Allah Knows Best.

Does wiping over one's socks during ablution permissible?

If the socks were thick,  then wiping over them during ablution is permissible so long as wiping conditions are observed. And Allah Knows Best.

I wear braces because I had an accident. However, Iam afraid that I could die and be buried while wearing them because they are permanent installation. Is this forbidden? I also wear false teeth. Should I ask my children to pull them out after I die?

If the braces are worn to get teeth back to normal, then there is no sin in that and there is also no harm in wearing false teeth. Moreover, you don`t have to have them removed after your passing away as this undermines the dignity of the dead. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

My mother is 70 years old and wishes to perform Hajj and Umrah, as she has never done so before. However, she also takes care of my ill father and is afraid of falling ill herself. What should she do?
 
 
 
 
 
 

If this is the obligatory Hajj – meaning she has not previously performed Hajj or Umrah – then it is permissible for her to go even without her husband's approval. However, she must travel with a Mahram (a male guardian) or a trustworthy group of women, and she should leave someone to care for her husband and attend to his needs. Is it permissible for a woman in her waiting period (Iddah) after her husband's death to leave her house and mix with non-Mahrams?

It is not permissible for a woman in her waiting period (Iddah) after the death of her husband to leave her house except for a necessity, such as for medical treatment, nor is she allowed to mix with non-Mahrams. A woman is not permitted to mix with anyone other than her husband or Mahrams, whether she is in her waiting period or not. However, there is no harm in accepting condolences from those who visit and responding to their inquiries about her well-being. And Allah Knows Best.
