Resolution No.(156)(22/210) by the Board of Iftaa`, Research and Islamic Studies:

"Ruling on Inscribing Quranic Verses on Pieces of Clothing"

Date: 17/1/1432 AH, corresponding to 23/12/2010 AD.

 

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

During its twelfth session held on the above given date, the Board reviewed the question sent by Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization/southern region branch, with which was attached a sample of a jacket made in China, on which the following Quranic words were inscribed: "Fa`Allahu Khair Hafizann"

After prolonged deliberations, the Board decided what follows:

It is impermissible to write Quranic verses on pieces of clothing in order to prohibit what may lead to committing sins and for fear of degrading the words of Allah.

Is it permissible for the doctor to uncover the hair of a female patient out of necessity?

It is only permissible for him to do so when there is no female doctor, and he should examine the patient in the presence of one of her Mahrams(unmarriageable kin).

Is it permissible for the woman who is observing Iddah after the death of her husband to exchange calls with her relatives and husband`s family call?

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.
It is permissible for the woman who is observing Iddah after death of husband to exchange calls with them; however, when she speaks to non-Mahrams , she shouldn`t be soft of speech and she should be straight to the point. This because Almighty Allah Says (What means): "O ye wives of the Prophet! Ye are not like any other women. If ye keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft of speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease aspire (to you), but utter customary speech." [Al-Ahzaab/32]. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
 

[1] The iddah is a waiting period that a Muslim woman observes after the death of her husband or after a divorce. The Quran says: For those men who die amongst you and leave behind wives, they (the wives) must confine themselves (spend iddah) for four months and ten days.

What is the expiation for perjury?

Perjury is forbidden and one of the major sins that require turning to Allah in repentance, seeking His forgiveness, giving back rights to whom they belong, or seeking their forgiveness, and expiating for that oath.

How is the Zakah(obligatory charity) on articles of merchandise calculated?

(2.5%) of each article`s value is paid as Zakah after a whole lunar year had lapsed.
