Resolution No.(66): "Ruling on Benefiting from the World Bank`s Grant Presented to the Ministry of Social Affairs“

Date: 16/5/1424AH, corresponding to 16/7/2003AD

 

The Board received the following question:

What is the ruling of Sharia as regards benefiting from the grant presented to the Ministry of Social affairs by the World Bank?

Answer: All success is due to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds.

After careful study and deliberation, the Board deems that it is permissible to benefit from the World Bank`s grant within the outline proposed by “Questscope“, provided that the loans given to the beneficiaries have zero-interest.

Moreover, it is permissible that a Zakat committee from Amman area, or else takes charge of possessing and running credit funds in accordance with the rules of Islamic Sharia. And Allah Knows Best.

I have 490 shares in a commercial company, and they have been held for a year. The price of each share is one dinar, noting that the shares are at a loss. I want to know the amount of zakat due on them?
 
 
 
 
 

Commercial shares are subject to zakat based on their current market value, even if they are at a loss. The zakat rate is 2.5%. And Allah Knows Best.

Is Zakah due on a woman`s deposited gold?

Zakah (obligatory charity) is due on deposited gold if it reached Nissab (minimum amount liable for Zakah), and a lunar year had lapsed over owning it. The due Zakah is (2.5%). And Allah Knows Best.

I went to the health center today to take an intramuscular injection of Neurorubin B12. The nurse told me that this type of injection breaks the fast because it nourishes the body. Is this true? I have heard that intramuscular injections do not break the fast, but I was unsure about this type, so I decided not to take the injection.
 
 
 
 
 

Therapeutic injections administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly do not invalidate the fast because they do not enter the digestive tract through an open passage. However, intravenous injections containing nutritional fluids do break the fast, as they are akin to food and drink in effect. The B12 injection is a therapeutic injection and does not break the fast. And Allah Knows Best.
 
 
 
 
 
 

I prayed all the obligatory prayers in congregation, but after finishing the `Isha prayer, I remembered that I had forgotten to pray Dhuhr. What should I do, and is my prayer invalid?

Your prayers are valid, but you must make up the Dhuhr prayer as soon as you remember it, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Whoever forgets a prayer must pray it as soon as they remember it; there is no expiation for it except this." [Muslim]. And Allah knows best
