Resolution No.(66): "Ruling on Benefiting from the World Bank`s Grant Presented to the Ministry of Social Affairs“

Date: 16/5/1424AH, corresponding to 16/7/2003AD

 

The Board received the following question:

What is the ruling of Sharia as regards benefiting from the grant presented to the Ministry of Social affairs by the World Bank?

Answer: All success is due to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds.

After careful study and deliberation, the Board deems that it is permissible to benefit from the World Bank`s grant within the outline proposed by “Questscope“, provided that the loans given to the beneficiaries have zero-interest.

Moreover, it is permissible that a Zakat committee from Amman area, or else takes charge of possessing and running credit funds in accordance with the rules of Islamic Sharia. And Allah Knows Best.

If your work is lawful and has no effect on your beliefs, then there is no sin on you and do your best to represent the true face of Islam. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

Is abortion permissible when the family isn`t ready to receive a new baby?

Abortion is forbidden unless it constituted a serious threat against the mother`s life based on the opinion of trustful and God fearing physicians.

My mother is 70 years old and wishes to perform Hajj and Umrah, as she has never done so before. However, she also takes care of my ill father and is afraid of falling ill herself. What should she do?
 
 
 
 
 
 

If this is the obligatory Hajj – meaning she has not previously performed Hajj or Umrah – then it is permissible for her to go even without her husband's approval. However, she must travel with a Mahram (a male guardian) or a trustworthy group of women, and she should leave someone to care for her husband and attend to his needs. Is it permissible for a wife to refuse to go to bed with her husband (for sexual intercourse)?

It isn`t permissible for her to do so unless for a sound reason.
