Resolution No.(17): “Ruling on Investing Orphans` Funds in Development Bonds and Treasury Bill“

Resolution No.(17)  by the Board of Iftaa`, Research and Islamic Studies:   
“Ruling on Investing Orphans` Funds in Development Bonds and Treasury Bills“
Date: 29/1/1411 AH, 20/8/1990 AD.

We have received the following question:
What is the  ruling of Sharia on investing the funds of orphans in development bonds and treasury bills?
Answer: All success is due to Allah.
The Board has decided that it is forbidden because it is a usury-based loan, and has attached the answer of Mr. Mostafa Az-zarqa in this regard. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for me to eat from the animal that I slaughtered for Allah to protect my family?

It is permissible to eat from the non-vowed animal sacrifice, and the person is rewarded based on the amount of meat that he had given to the poor. However, there is no evidence in Islamic Sharia indicating that slaughtering an animal protects one`s family, but it is a way for thanking Allah, The Almighty, for his grace.

What is the ruling on the ablution of one who cuts his nails, and is it permissible to cut them before the ritual bath for major impurity (janabah)?

Cutting nails does not invalidate ablution, and it is permissible to cut them before the ritual bath for major impurity. And Allah the Almighty knows best.

Do ear and nose drops break the fast?

 
Yes, ear and nose drops break the fast because both the nose and ears are open passages to the body cavity.

Is it incumbent on a father to cover the marriage costs of his son if the latter couldn`t afford them?

The son should seek the help of his relatives in order to convince his father to do the aforesaid, and the father should make sure that his son doesn`t commit fornication through helping him to get married, and Allah will reward him for doing so.
