About the General Fatwa Department

The Fatwa Department of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was founded in 1921. Since its formation, it has relied upon Hanafi fatwas which were in use during the Ottoman era, and the Mufti has answered the questions of members of the public, whether they relate to worship or financial transactions or personal statutes, and it has assigned a mufti to each judge in cities both large and small. The judge seeks the mufti's assistance in solving social problems, just as the mufti refers to the judge matters which are not within the mufti's jurisdiction and which require evidence and witnesses....

Is it a condition that the meat of the Eid sacrifice should be distributed in order for the sacrifice to be accepted by Allah?

The poor and needy should be given from that sacrifice , even if it be a small portion,(One kilo for example) as raw meat so that they would cook it the way they want. The remainder of that sacrifice is either distributed, eaten, or offered to people in a banquette .

Is it permissible to thin the eyebrows or remove them and draw in their place?

Thinning the eyebrows, removing them, and drawing in their place—known as Namas—is prohibited. The Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed those who do it. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the ruling on the existence of cattles' marketplace of (Sheeps, cows and chickens ) inside a graveyard?

Graves must be respected, and it is not permissible to sit on them or show any disrespect. Establishing a marketplace within a cemetery is undoubtedly a form of disrespect to the deceased and is not permissible. Such actions should not be tolerated. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for the doctor to uncover the hair of a female patient out of necessity?

It is only permissible for him to do so when there is no female doctor, and he should examine the patient in the presence of one of her Mahrams (unmarriageable kin).

No Zakah is due on equipments used in the trading process such as cars and the like.

Is a menstruating woman obliged to pray during menses, and should she make up missed prayers?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds A menstruating woman is prohibited from prayer during her menses, and she isn`t obliged to make up missed prayers. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the Time for Making up Fajr Prayer and Other Missed Ones?

All perfect praise be to Allah The Lord of The Worlds and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his familty and companion.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Whoever forgets a prayer, let him perform it when he remembers it." [Muslim]. As soon as you (Questioner) wake up, you are obliged to make up the missed Fajr prayer. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a woman to adorn herself with kohl (eyeliner) and go out wearing it?

Kohl is a form of adornment, and it is forbidden for a woman to display her adornment to anyone other than her husband or a Mahram. And Allah Knows Best.
