About the General Fatwa Department

The Fatwa Department of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was founded in 1921. Since its formation, it has relied upon Hanafi fatwas which were in use during the Ottoman era, and the Mufti has answered the questions of members of the public, whether they relate to worship or financial transactions or personal statutes, and it has assigned a mufti to each judge in cities both large and small. What is mentiond by the righteous predecessors that they used to say: "O Allah bless us in Shaba'an and Rajab and give us the ability to reach Ramadan." [Shoa'ab Al-Iman/vol.3/pp.375]. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for me to name my daughter "Leen"?

“Leen” means “ease”, and there is no harm in giving your daughter that name.

Is it permissible for a man to wear transparent clothing?

It is not permissible for a man to wear transparent clothing that reveals his 'Awrah (the area that must be covered). The 'Awrah of a man is "from his navel to his knees", and modesty is more prudent. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the ruling on praying behind an undesirable Imam?

It is permissible to pray behind an Imam who is undesirable for committing religious violations, and it is disliked for such an Imam to lead the prayer. Still, If he was undesirable for a personal, or a worldly matter, then such argument doesn’t hold water. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the ruling on the existence of cattles' marketplace of (Sheeps, cows and chickens ) inside a graveyard?

Graves must be respected, and it is not permissible to sit on them or show any disrespect. Establishing a marketplace within a cemetery is undoubtedly a form of disrespect to the deceased and is not permissible. Such actions should not be tolerated. And Allah Knows Best.

It is impermissible for the guardian to donate from the money of the orphans because he is entrusted with the safekeeping of that money, and is prohibited from donating it.
