The Fatwa Department of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was founded in 1921. Since its formation, it has relied upon Hanafi fatwas which were in use during the Ottoman era, and the Mufti has answered the questions of members of the public, whether they relate to worship or financial transactions or personal statutes, and it has assigned a mufti to each judge in cities both large and small. The Fitr Zakah of Ramadhaan is a Sa` (2500 grams) from what the people of that country or state eat the most. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible to repeat the Istikhara (seeking guidance) prayer, and is it a condition that one should sleep after offering it?

All perfect praise be to Allah,The Lord of The Worlds Istikhara is offered once, but it is permissible to repeat it, and sleeping after offering it is not a condition for its validity. And Allah Knows Best.

Zakah is due on the money saved for marriage if it reached the Nissab (minimum amount liable for Zakah), and a whole lunar year had lapsed over possessing it.

Is the `Iddah (waiting period) of the divorced effective from the time the divorce took place, or from the time of registering it at the court?

It is considered effective from the very moment her divorce took place, but not from the time of registering it at the court. And Allah Knows Best.

Such a person should ignore the devil`s whispers, contemplate the Quranic chapters and verses that he/she recites, look directly at the place of Sujood (prostration), make supplication to Allah, and take refuge in Him from the cursed devil.

Should one obey his mother even if she was wrong?

Obeying one`s mother is an obligation in matters that are beneficial to her and so long as she didn't drive her children to commit an act of sin.

Is abortion permissible when the family isn`t ready to receive a new baby?

Abortion is forbidden unless it constituted a serious threat against the mother`s life based on the opinion of trustful and God fearing physicians.

What is the ruling of Sharia on having an injection to stop the menses considering the fact that she is a challenged person?

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

We recommend visiting a skilled doctor who fears Allah. If he says that there is no harm in having the injection, then it is permissible to use it. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
