Resolution No.(43): "Ruling on the Amendments of the Islamic International Arab Bank`s Articles of Association and Statute Regualtions"

Date: 25/7/1420 AH, corresponding to 13/11/1999

We have received the following question:

Do the certificate of incorporation and the statute of the Islamic International Arab bank comply with the rulings of Islamic Sharia?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

Answer: The Board has decided to approve the amendments indicated in the above letter, and which comply with the rulings of Islamic Sharia, provided that paragraph (D) of article (28) is rewritten to read as follows:

Paragraph (D) The other precautions:

Any percentage of the profits based on the suggestion of the administrative board and the approval of the general authority in favor of any other precautions, regardless of their name or purpose, in the best interest of the company and its course of business, provided that this deduction is made after that of the income tax. Is it permissible to give my zakat to my grandson who is studying at university, while I am living abroad and my money is in my home country? Also, is it permissible to assign my father the responsibility of distributing the zakat to the people in my home country?

 

It is permissible to give zakat to a son whom his father is supporting if he is an adult and in good health, because his father is not obligated to support him, making him one of the poor among the Muslims. However, the student who may receive zakat is one who is diligent in seeking beneficial knowledge for the Muslims and is religious. Zakat should be paid in the country where the money is located, and appointing your father to distribute the zakat in the country where the money is is the correct approach. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for me to name my daughter "Leen"?

“Leen” means “ease”, and there is no harm in giving your daughter that name.

Is a menstruating woman obliged to pray during menses, and should she make up missed prayers?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds                                                                                                                                                                        A menstruating woman is prohibited from prayer during her menses, and she isn`t obliged to make up missed prayers. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the ruling on swearing a false oath by the Holy Quran?

Swearing a false oath by the Holy Quran dips the oath-taker in Hellfire, and one who had done so should turn to Allah in repentance, seek His forgiveness, give back rights to whom they belong, and pay the oath expiation.
