Statement over the Events at Al-Aqsa Mosque

In the Name of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions:

The Iftaa` Department of Jordan condemns with the strongest of terms closing Al-Aqsa mosque, violating religious symbols, banning Muslims from performing Friday prayer in the Noble Sanctuary, and not allowing them to enter it. The Dept. reiterates that these provocations constitute a flagrant violation of Islamic sanctities and freedom of religion, heart the feelings of Muslims worldwide, and violate human rights as well as international human rights law.

We call upon the international community and the Islamic states in particular to shoulder their responsibilities by ending these barbaric acts. Indeed, it is the duty of every Muslim to defend Al-Aqsa mosque from different dangers and violations. Under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah the second, Jordan has dedicated all its resources for the restoration and protection of Al-Aqsa mosque. In fact, this emanates from the historical and spiritual responsibility of the Hashemite family whose ancestry traces back to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). We pray that Allah safeguards Al-Aqsa mosque and favors Muslims with taking it back. And all perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds.

Once postpartum bleeding (Nifas) ceases, and the woman is certain that it won`t reoccur, then she becomes ritually pure and so she is free to make Ghusl (purificatory bath), pray, and fast. If the bleeding reoccurs before fifteen days from its cessation, and before the end of (60) days after delivery, then the ruling on postpartum bleeding is effective, and her fasting and prayer are null and void, thus she must make up the fasting that she missed and not the prayer during those particular days.

What is the ruling on I‘tikaf in Ramadan?

I‘tikaf is Sunnah in Ramadan, and it is even more emphasized in the last ten nights, in the hope of witnessing Laylat al-Qadr.

What is the ruling on performing Tarawih in sets of four rak‘ahs with only one Tasleem?

It is not permissible to combine more than two rak‘ahs with a single Tasleem in Tarawih prayer. Whoever does so, their prayer is invalid. Shaykh al-Islam Imam Muhammad al-Ramli (may Allah have mercy on him) stated: "If a person prays four rak‘ahs of the Tarawih prayer with a single Tasleem, it is not valid if they did so intentionally and with knowledge [of the prohibition]. Otherwise, it becomes an 'absolute voluntary prayer' (nafl mutlaq); because it is contrary to what has been prescribed." [Nihayat al-Muhtaj, Vol.2/P.127].

What is the ruling of Islamic Law on following the actions of the imam in prayer and how this following is achieved?

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our master, the Messenger of Allah.
The follower (ma'mum) is required to follow his imam in the actions of the prayer. This "following" (mutaba'ah) means that the follower performs each action of the prayer after the imam has begun it but before he has finished it. For example, the follower bows (in ruku') after the imam has reached the position of bowing, then rises after the imam has risen. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The imam is only appointed to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir; and when he bows, then bow; and when he prostrates, then prostrate" (agreed upon, i.e., reported by both al-Bukhari and Muslim).
It is stated in Mughni al-Muhtaj (1/505): "Among the conditions of valid congregational prayer (iqtida') is following the imam in the actions of the prayer... meaning that following the imam is obligatory in the physical actions of the prayer, not in its verbal utterances... Complete following (kamal al-mutaba'ah) is achieved when the follower's beginning of an action comes after the imam's beginning of that same action, while the follower's beginning of the action precedes the imam's completion of it" — end of quote, with slight paraphrasing.
