A Statement on the 10th Anniversary of Amman Bombings

 

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

At this time of every year, Jordanians mark the anniversary of the bombings that ripped through three hotels in Amman on Nov.9th, 2005, killing and wounding many innocent civilians. This series of coordinated bomb attacks was conducted by a terrorist group that harbors radical ideologies.

 

The General Iftaa` Department prays that Allah bestows His mercy on the martyrs, admits them into Heaven, and empowers their families with patience and solace. The Department calls upon Jordanians to be united and persistent against terrorist and extremist ideologies which don`t represent the tolerant values of Islam, and are weird to our society.

 

Moreover, the Department calls upon Jordanians to support the ceaseless efforts of the armed forces and the security departments in fighting terrorist groups in order to preserve our unity, security, and stability.

 

The Department prays that Allah The Almighty keeps Jordan peaceful and secure under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah the second, and wishes the same for all Muslim countries. And All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of Worlds.

What is teh ruling on thoughtless oath?

One who swears by Allah unintentionally and isn`t determined to fulfill his oath, nothing is due on him. Allah, The Almighty, Says (What means): "God will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing." [Al-Baqarah/225]. However, it is dispraised for a Muslim to swear frequently.

Is Making up Missed Obligatory Prayers an Obligation?

Missed obligatory prayer/prayers is a debt upon Muslim and making it up is an obligation, since the Prophet (PBUH) said: "pay the debt due to God, for it is the one which most deserves to be paid." [Agreed upon]. And Allah Knows Best.

 

After I was ran over, I had cracked ribs, concussion, a tension pneumothorax, and retired as a result. What is the amount of the Diya?

What you have mentioned requires a detailed medical report since the benefit of every organ that you have lost deserves a full Diya (In Islamic law, Diya is the financial compensation paid to the victim or heirs of a victim in the cases of accidental murder, bodily harm or property damage). Moreover, the decrease in the benefit of some organs has to be assessed by expert doctors and allocated a percentage from the Diya accordingly. Therefore, we advise you to refer the matter to the courts or reconcile with the driver and forgive him so that Allah may forgive you. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

What is the ruling on taking a loan from an interest-based bank (a usurious bank) to buy an apartment for housing, noting that I am renting at a high amount relative to my income, and I am an employee? Also, considering that the conditions of Islamic banks are strict, and I cannot obtain the full amount from them, is it permissible to take a loan to purchase an apartment or not? Usury (interest) is prohibited by Islamic law, and the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who pays it, its recorder, and its witnesses. Whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate them with something better and greater, and Allah will provide relief after hardship.
