Department of General Ifta Web site was the best government web site for the year 2009


The General Ifta Department web site won the golden prize (first rank) as the best government electronic web site in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the year 2009.

Several formal web sites participated in the competition which was held by the JORDAN WEB AWARDS.

It is worth mentioning that there are several criteria adopted by the evaluation committee when choosing the winner site. Some of these criteria are related to the ideas, creativity, easy browsing, content, visual art, and degree of being interactive with site visitors.

What fulfills the requirement of Suhoor?

Suhoor is fulfilled by eating even a single date or drinking a sip of water, anytime after midnight and before Fajr, with the intention of strengthening oneself for fasting.

Is it permissible for a woman to give the ransom (Fidyah) for breaking her fast to her granddaughter (her son`s daughter)?

It is permissible for a woman to give the ransom (Fidya) for breaking her fast in Ramadan to her granddaughter (her son’s daughter), provided that the girl is poor and her basic needs are not being met by the maintenance (Nafaqah) of those who are lislamically obligated to provide for her. And Allah the Exalted knows best.

Is it permissible to combine Zuhr and Asr prayers for being occupied with a wedding ceremony?

No, it isn`t permissible to combine Zuhr and Asr, or Maghrib and Isha because of being busy with a wedding since the exemption for combining prayers is based on lawful excuses, and this isn`t one of them. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible to include others in the reward of one`s sacrifice?

It is permissible for the one offering a sacrifice (al-muḍaḥḥī) to include another person in the reward of the sacrifice, but it is not permissible for them to share in the price of the sacrifice. It is stated in Mughnī al-Muḥtāj (Vol.6/P.137) by al-Khaṭīb al-Shirbīnī: "If he includes another in the reward of his sacrifice and slaughters it on his own behalf, it is permissible."
