Statement on the Circulated Fatwa Forbidding Abstaining from Paying the Water Bill 

 

In the Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Most Compassionate

 

Allah the Almighty says {What means}: "The General Iftaa` Department confirms that it hasn`t recently issued a Fatwa forbidding abstaining from paying the water bill and the news circulated social media concerns an old Fatwa included in the book entitled (The Guide on Water from an Islamic Perspective) addressing Imams and preachers.

 

The Department calls on journalists to be objective and choose the right time in publishing its Fatwa since unsuitable time and place takes the Fatwa out of context with the intention of abuse and distortion.

We ask Almighty Allah to protect our country from seditions and afflictions, be they revealed or concealed.

There is nothing wrong with this if this device is used on temporary basis and by mutual agreement of husband and wife since this issue falls into family planning, which is allowed by Sharia. However, this is provided that the device is inserted by a female doctor and that it doesn`t cause harm to the woman. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

What is the ruling on the financial leasing transaction in commercial bank?

Any transation that is involved in the unlawful is impermissible. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a financially capable woman to pay the Zakat to her sons or one of them?

It is permissible for a mother to give her children from zakat if they are eligible to receive it, even though she is obligated to provide for them. This is based on the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding Zainab, the wife of Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them): "Your husband and your children are more deserving of your charity" [Al-Bukhari]. Allah The Almighty Says (What means): "O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with the truthful" [At-Tawbah/119]. False statements contradict truthfulness, and it is not permissible to write them. A Muslim has the right to live in any Islamic country, and those who prevent him will be accountable before Allah about their action and the justification for the prohibition. And Allah Knows Best.
