Statement on the Divorce Campaign

 

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His blessings and peace be upon Prophet Mohammad, his family and noble companions.

 

Marriage is a blessing bestowed by Allah on His servants and it is the practice of the Prophets and the righteous. This blessing deserves thankfulness and gratitude; not denial and ingratitude since marriage is the first component for a good family and the fundamental building of the fabric of society.

Hence, the General Iftaa` Department alerts to what is rumored regarding the divorce campaign and stresses that it is merely a disregard and mockery of the family and the woman, and this goes against that higher purposes (Maqasid) of Islamic Law, which came to maintain and protect the family from getting tampered with.

The aforesaid campaign doesn`t have a civilizational purpose that lies in the best interest of the people; rather, it aims to tamper with the tight bond of marriage and distract people from significant issues embodied in building, development, knowledge and work.

Allah the Almighty says {what means}: "Do not treat God’s Signs as a jest, but solemnly rehearse God’s favours on you, and the fact that He sent down to you the Book and Wisdom, for your instruction. And fear God, and know that God is well acquainted with all things." {al-Baqarah, 231}. He the Almighty also says {What means}: "These are the limits ordained by God; so do not transgress them if any do transgress the limits ordained by God, such persons wrong (Themselves as well as others)." {al-Baqarah, 229}. And Allah the Almighty knows best.

We fear that the deducted amount may be a means of circumventing interest (Riba). If the deducted amount is equal to or less than the actual administrative expenses, then there is no issue, as some scholars permit the borrower to bear the costs of documenting and managing the loan. However, piety suggests refraining from taking this loan under these conditions, as dealing with private individuals and companies is not the same as dealing with the state, which spends from the public treasury. What is the ruling on using bank cards such as Visa and MasterCard?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upo all of his family and comapnions                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        It is permissible to use such cards in accordance with the following conditions: 1- The issuing body does not stipulate collecting interest upon late payments. 2- The merchant does not increase the price of the goods due to an increase in the commission collected from him by the card issuer. 3- The purchased item(s) should not be gold, silver or currency in case the card is not covered. Is the patient who is on dialysis twice a week obliged to observe fasting? Is his fasting on the days he is on dialysis considered valid or not?

Dialysis invalidates fasting because of the nutritional fluid used in that procedure, as pointed by specialized doctors, in addition to causing bodies to enter the stomach. Therefore, it is recommended that the patient who had undergone dialysis to observe fasting for the rest of that day, if he is able to, and make up for it after Ramadan. However, if the doctor told him that fasting, at any time, would damage his health, then he must break his fast and pay a ransom against every missed day. We pray that Allah blesses this person with recovery. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

I suffer from chronic asthma which requires ventoline inhale; which is an air causes the risperatory track/airways to expand. Am I permited to use it during the daylight of Ramadan? And does break one's fast? Noting that I can't go an entire day without using it?

Taking inhaler through the mouth or the nose breaks one's fast, because it is meant to reach the lungs which are part of the coelom. Therefore, whosoever use inhalers for couple of days is obliged to preserve his fasting and make up that day later. As for the ones the ones who need to use it every days are obliged to preserve his fast and feed a poor per day and the cost of feeding one poor is estimated (60) piasters for the year (1421AH).
