It is well-known to every Muslim that Khamr (Intoxicants forbidden in Islam) is strictly prohibited since its prohibition is firmly established in the Quran, the Sunna, and the consensus of Islamic scholars. Ignorance of this prohibition is inexcusable, especially for those who live in Muslim lands. Allah Says in the Quran (What mean): "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing to] stone idols, and divining arrows are an abomination of Satan's work, so avoid it that you may succeed. Indeed, Satan intends only to cause between you enmity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?" [Al-Ma`idah/90-91]. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Allah has cursed alcohol, the one who drinks it, the one who serves it, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, the one who extracts it, the one who has it extracted for him, the one who carries it, and the one for whom it is carried." [Abu Dawood]. Moreover, from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Every intoxicant is alcohol, and every intoxicant is forbidden." [Moslim]. The entire community of Islamic scholars is in unanimous agreement regarding its prohibition.
The question about the ruling on Khamr might arise from a person who has recently converted to Islam and is unaware of its ruling, or from someone who has lived outside of Muslim lands. However, a Muslim who lives in a Muslim country cannot be excused for their ignorance of rulings that are fundamental to the religion, such as the prohibition of alcohol. Especially with the widespread use of modern communication tools, there is no excuse today to claim ignorance.
In conclusion, alcohol is strictly forbidden, its prohibition is established in the Quran, the Sunna, and the consensus of Islamic scholars. It is a fundamental principle of Islam, and a Muslim who grew up in a Muslim country cannot claim ignorance of this ruling. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
