Question :

What is the ruling one using "Ashtar" as a name for distilled water bottles?

The Answer :

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

"Ashtar"  is the name of an idol that the Assyrians used to worship. They have also given this same name to a satellite channel to make their idol famous. Therefore, it isn`t permissible to give this name to a child, a product or the like as doing so is participating in spreading falsehood, even unintentionally. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

[1] Ashtaar is the Arabic word for the goddess Ishtar, who was a pagan goddess worshiped by the people of modern day Iraq. Since this word refers to a concept that is against Islam, Muslims cannot use this word as a name.
