Question :

What is the ruling of Sharia on celebrating the Prophet`s birthday?



The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.


Celebrating Prophet Mohammad`s birthday is a civilized manner that expresses our love to him, our pride in his leadership and our adherence to his Sharia. Moreover, celebrating this happy occasion shouldn`t involve any violations to Sharia; rather, it should be confined to remembering his Seerah [The biography of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)] and his good qualities as well as to urge Muslims to abide by the teachings of Islam. And Allah Knows Best.
