Question :

What is the ruling of Sharia on creating software for vehicles and drivers insurance company? It is worth pointing that the software facilitates the transactions between the company, the insured and the Drivers and Vehicles License Department.



The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

 

According to the opinion of the modern Muslim scholars, commercial insurance is forbidden as it involves uncertainty and gambling. If the software that you (Asker) are designing for this company lies in the heart of its work, then you are helping in sin while Allah, may He be Exalted, Says (What means): "Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah. for Allah is strict in punishment." {Al-Mai`dah, 2}.Based on this, a true Muslim wouldn`t facilitate for what is forbidden or help in spreading it.

However, there is no sin in cooperating with Islamic insurance companies. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
