Resolution No.(72): “Ruling on Charging a Percentage on Loans as an Allowance for Administrative Expenses and the Like“

Date: 18/9/1424 AH corresponding to 12/11/2003 AD.

 

The Board received the following question: 

What is the ruling of Islamic Sharia on charging a percentage on loans as an allowance for administrative expenses and the like?

Answer: All success is due to Allah.

The Board is of the view that giving cash loans up to (800) JDs without a guarantee and with charging 3% as a contribution and allowance for administrative expenses isn`t permissible because this percentage is considered usury. However, it is permissible to charge a specific sum in return for administrative expenses and as a contribution, whether the loan is big or small. And Allah Knows Best.

Whoever conditions disbelief on something and intends to disbelieve if it happens, he becomes a disbeliever immediately. Therefore, you must pronounce the two testimonies of faith (Shahada) and reconcile with your wife if she is in her waiting period (Iddah). Is it permissible for a Muslim to escort his deceased disbelieving relative to his final resting place?

It is permissible provided that he doesn`t walk behind non-Islamic symbols, rather he should walk in front of them.

Is it permissible for a woman who is in her confinement to fast upon seeing blood signs that are neither black, nor red ?

Brownish, reddish, and yellowish discharges are all considered confinement until there is no colored discharge which marks the end of confinement. Moreover, the aforesaid woman is prohibited from fasting until she attains ritual purity. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a Muslim woman to wear trousers at home?

Wearing trousers at home isn't prohibited so long as non-Mahrams do not see her. And Allah Knows Best.
