The Terrorist Crime in America and Libya

 

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

The General Iftaa` Department ascertains that the killing of the innocent based on religious, sectarian or racial affiliations poses a serious threat to all humanity and a transgression rejected by Islam, the religion of mercy and human dignity. Allah says {what means}: "We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures." {Al-Anbiya`, 107}. He also says {What means}: "We have honoured the sons of Adam;" {Al-Israa`, 70}.

The Department strongly condemns the heinous crime that took place in the United States and led to the death of three Muslims. It also condemns the horrible crime in which a number of Egyptian Coptic Christians were beheaded in Libya. A crime so abhorring that it shook the world conscience. However, these stonehearted criminals don`t represent Islam and Islam is innocent from them.

Accordingly, the Department calls on scholars, thinkers and opinion influencers to stand up to extremism, display the true luminous image of Islam and prevent the attack against it. This is since mistaking Islam for extremism disrupts and destroys human societies. We ask Allah to bless our beloved country, along with other Muslim countries, with peace and security.

If a distant mosque has a larger congregation (Jama‘ah) while the congregation in the nearby mosque is smaller, and the congregation in the nearby mosque is not adversely affected by the worshiper's absence, then it is better for him to pray in the distant mosque with the larger congregation. However, if the congregation in the nearby mosque would be affected by his absence—such as if he is its Imam, or if his presence encourages others to attend—then praying in the nearby mosque is better. This ensures that the congregation is established in two different locations within the community. This is based on the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: 'A man's prayer offered with another man is purer than his prayer which he offers alone, and his prayer with two men is purer than his prayer with one and if they are more (in number), it is more beloved to Allah, the Mighty the Majestic' (Narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawood, and An-Nasa'i). It is obligatory upon a Muslim to uphold honesty in both his words and his actions. Allah the Almighty says {what means}: "O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know." [Al-Anfāl/ 27] And He says {what means}: "O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with the truthful." [Al-Tawbah/ 119]. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever deceives us is not of us." (Reported by al-Bukhārī.)

The Prophet ﷺ taught us to observe I‘tikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan, seeking Laylat al-Qadr. Whoever worships Allah and revives this night will receive the reward of worshiping for a thousand months—excluding Laylat al-Qadr itself.

What is the ruling on wiping the head during ablution from behind a barrier like a headscarf (hijab)?

The obligation in ablution is to wipe some of the head; it is not a condition to wipe all of it. As for one who has a turban or headscarf on their head, it is permissible for them to wipe over it after wiping a part of their head in any place. This is easily done at the front of the head. This means the woman begins by wiping the front of her head from under the headscarf, then completes the wiping to the back of the head from over the headscarf. If the woman wipes over the headscarf on her head and the moisture reaches the scalp or some hair within the boundaries of the head, it suffices for wiping the head. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
