The Terrorist Crime in America and Libya

 

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

The General Iftaa` Department ascertains that the killing of the innocent based on religious, sectarian or racial affiliations poses a serious threat to all humanity and a transgression rejected by Islam, the religion of mercy and human dignity. Allah says {what means}: "We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures." {Al-Anbiya`, 107}. He also says {What means}: "We have honoured the sons of Adam;" {Al-Israa`, 70}.

The Department strongly condemns the heinous crime that took place in the United States and led to the death of three Muslims. It also condemns the horrible crime in which a number of Egyptian Coptic Christians were beheaded in Libya. A crime so abhorring that it shook the world conscience. However, these stonehearted criminals don`t represent Islam and Islam is innocent from them.

Accordingly, the Department calls on scholars, thinkers and opinion influencers to stand up to extremism, display the true luminous image of Islam and prevent the attack against it. This is since mistaking Islam for extremism disrupts and destroys human societies. We ask Allah to bless our beloved country, along with other Muslim countries, with peace and security.

Our Master the Prophet ﷺ said: 'It is more excellent for a woman to pray in her house than in her courtyard, and more excellent for her to pray in her private chamber than in her house.' Therefore, a woman’s adherence to her home and her refraining from going to the mosques—in obedience to the command of Allah the Exalted—attains a great reward and abundant recompense. Furthermore, women praying in congregation within their homes is better than their attendance at the mosques, based on the aforementioned Hadith. And Allah the Exalted knows best.

How to pay Zakah (obligatory charity) due on articles of merchandise?

Articles of merchandise are estimated by their whole sale market price at the end of each lunar year, and (2.5%) of their value is paid as Zakah whether it (value) went up, or down compared to actual purchasing price, and whether the increase (profit) was in the article itself such as an increase in the animal`s weight, or in the prices themselves. It is permissible for a fasting person to swallow their saliva because avoiding it would cause undue hardship and excessive strictness in religion. Islam discourages such excessiveness since Allah the Almighty intends ease for His followers and does not intend to put them in hardship.

The default ruling regarding sleep is that it nullifies ablution. An exception to this is one who slept while firmly seated on the ground; his ablution is not nullified by sleep if he wakes up while still firmly seated on the ground. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
