Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Declares Love

A team of people perceives that adhering to religion and its provisions and love can`t be found in one person because they are contradictory; when one emerges, it blocks out the other and causes it to disappear. This perception represents a deviation from the right path and contradicts truth as well as reality.

If we take the life of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) into consideration, we find that it is replete with love for Allah and His creatures. Moreover, a quick look at the Prophetic Sunnah reveals that love was one of the most notable characteristics of human life and, as believers, we have to follow the Prophet (PBUH) for he is our role model.

He (PBUH) declared his love to his wives, children and grandchildren. One example of this is that Al-Bara' said, "I saw the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when al-Hasan was on his shoulder. He was saying, 'O Allah, I love him, so love him." Also, 'Amr b. al-'As reported that Allah's Messenger (PBUH) sent him in command of the army dispatched to Dhat-as-Salasil. When 'Amr b. al-'As came back to the Prophet (PBUH) he said: Who amongst people are dearest to you? He said: A'isha. He then said: Who amongst men? He said: Her father." {Agreed upon}.

He (PBUH) also declared his love to his Companions. It was narrated that Mu'adhbin Jabal said: "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) took my hand and said: 'I love you, O Mu'adh!' I said: 'And I love you, O Messenger of Allah (PBUH).' Then the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: 'Never forget to say in every prayer: Rabbi a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik (My Lord, help me to remember You, give thanks to You and worship You well.)" He (PBUH) also declared his love to Usama Bin Zaid and his father.

In addition, he (PBUH) directed his Companions to show their love to each other. Anas ibn Malik narrated: A man was with the Prophet (PBUH) and a man passed by him and said: Messenger of Allah! I love this man. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) then asked: Have you informed him? He replied: No. He said: Inform him. He then went to him and said: I love you for Allah's sake. He replied: May He for Whose sake you love me love you!{Ahmad & Abu Dawoud}.

The Prophet (PBUH) also called for spreading love among people and tied that with the love of Allah. Al-Bara reported from the Messenger (may peace and blessing be upon him) that he remarked with regard to the Ansar: "None but the believer loves them, none but the hypocrite hates them. He who loves them loves Allah and he who hates them hates Allah." {Related by Bukhari}. Narrated Ya'la bin Murrah: that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Husain is from me, and I am from Husain. Allah loves whoever loves Husain. " {Related by Tirmith & Ahmad Bin Hanbal}.

The Prophet (PBUH) also pointed out a person will be summoned with the one whom he loves since Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "A person will be summoned with the one whom he loves".

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Love wasn`t only declared towards human beings; rather it was declared to inanimate objects as well since they are among the creations of Allah and they celebrate praise of Him. Anas narrated: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "This is a mountain that loves us and is loved by us." {Related by Bukhari}.

In conclusion, these are a handful of passing references to love in the life of the Prophet (PBUH). Thus, it is incumbent upon us to live love and not be ashamed to declare to others including one`s wife, child and friend since the word "love" has a magical effect in people`s hearts.

Summarized Fatawaa

A woman became pure [from menstruation] before Fajr, but did not perform ghusl until after sunrise — what is the ruling on her fast?

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our master, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
Her fast is valid, since ghusl (ritual bathing) is not a condition for the validity of the fast, but rather for the validity of the prayer. However, she is sinful for delaying the Fajr prayer beyond its designated time without a valid excuse.
It is known that the time for Fajr prayer ends at sunrise. Nevertheless, she must still perform ghusl, and make up the Fajr prayer. And Allah, the Exalted, knows best.

What is the ruling of Islamic Law on kissing while fasting?

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our master the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
It is prohibitively disliked (makrūh taḥrīman) for a husband to engage in foreplay with or kiss his wife during the daylight hours of Ramaḍān if doing so stirs his desire. If pre-seminal fluid (madhī) is released as a result, the fast is not invalidated; however, if seminal fluid (manī) is released, the fast is broken.
Imām al-Khaṭīb al-Sharbīnī, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated: "It is prohibitively disliked to kiss — whether on the mouth or elsewhere — for one whose desire is stirred, whether man or woman, to the extent that he fears it may lead to intercourse or ejaculation. Embracing, touching, and similar acts without a barrier carry the same ruling as kissing in this regard, because such acts expose the act of worship to being corrupted — and as the two Ṣaḥīḥs record: 'Whoever circles around a protected boundary is liable to fall into it.'"
He further added: "It is preferable for one whose desire is not stirred — even if he is a young man — to refrain from such acts as well, so as to close the door entirely. For he may believe his desire has not been aroused when in fact it has. Moreover, it is Sunnah for the fasting person to abstain from all desires without exception." — Summarised with minor adaptation from [Mughnī al-Muḥtāj]. And Allah the Almighty knows best.

What is the ruling on combining more than one intention in the prayer, such as combining the *sunnah* of wuḍūʾ with the pre-Dhuhr *sunnah*, or combining the *sunnah* of greeting the mosque (*taḥiyyat al-masjid*) with the pre-Dhuhr *sunnah*?

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our master, the Messenger of Allah.
Combining two intentions in a single act of worship, which some jurists call the “overlapping of acts of worship”, has several cases and precise rules. These can be consulted in the books of legal maxims, such as al-Manthūr fī al-Qawāʿid al-Fiqhiyyah by al-Zarkashī and al-Ashbāh wa’l-Naẓāʾir by al-Suyūṭī. Among the most important of these rules:
First: If all of the acts of worship that one wishes to combine under one intention are obligatory, the intentions do not overlap. An example is combining the intention of the obligatory ʿAṣr prayer with that of the obligatory Dhuhr prayer. The intentions do not overlap in this case.
Second: If the two acts are specified supererogatory prayers (nawāfil muqayyadah) that are aimed at in themselves because of a particular time, occasion, or cause, or if they are an obligatory prayer and a specified supererogatory prayer, the intentions again do not overlap. An example is the Duha prayer, which may not be combined with, for instance, the regular sunnah of Dhuhr.
It is stated in Bushrā al-Karīm: “Whatever is not, in meaning, an absolute voluntary prayer, such as the Duha sunnah… is not subsumed under another. Rather, if he intends something else along with it… the prayer is not validly entered. This is because combining two obligations, two specified supererogatory prayers, or an obligation and a specified supererogatory prayer invalidates the prayer in cases not built upon overlapping, as ritual purification (ṭahārah) is.”
Third: If the two acts are absolute voluntary prayers (nawāfil muṭlaqah), or one of them is, where the texts of the Sharīʿah show that the aim of the voluntary act is to fill the time with worship, then overlapping of intentions is permissible. An example is the obligatory Dhuhr prayer together with the sunnah of greeting the mosque (taḥiyyat al-masjid). And Allah Almighty knows best.

I vowed to give a specific charity if a certain matter came to pass — what is the ruling on giving that charity before the matter is realised?

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our master the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
Fulfilling a vow (nadhr) is obligatory, in accordance with the word of Allah the Almighty: "And let them fulfil their vows." [Al-Ḥajj/ 29] And the saying of our master the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him; and whoever vows to disobey Him, let him not disobey Him." (Reported by al-Bukhārī.)
The Shāfiʿī scholars distinguished between a financial vow (nadhr mālī) and a bodily vow (nadhr badanī). They permitted the fulfilment of a financial vow to be brought forward — before the stipulated condition is met — but did not permit the same for a bodily vow, which may only be fulfilled after the condition has actually been realised.
Shaykh al-Islām Imām Zakariyyā al-Anṣārī, may Allah have mercy upon him, states: "It is permissible to bring forward the fulfilment of a financial vow before the condition stipulated in it is met — such as saying: 'If I am healed, I vow to free a slave' or 'to give such-and-such in charity' — just as it is permissible to pay zakāh in advance. This is unlike a bodily vow, such as fasting." [Asnā al-Maṭālib, vol. 4/P.246]
Imām al-Bājūrī, may Allah have mercy upon him, states: "Like expiation other than fasting, a financial vow — such as saying: 'If Allah heals my sick one, I vow to free a slave for the sake of Allah,' or 'If Allah heals my sick one, I vow to free a slave on the Friday following the recovery' — it is permissible to bring it forward before the recovery in the first case, and before the Friday following the recovery in the second case." [Ḥāshiyat al-Bājūrī ʿalā Sharḥ Ibn Qāsim, Vol.2/P.596] And Allah the Almighty knows best.
