The Statement of the Board of Iftaa' Over the Denouncement of the Caricature Insulting Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)

 

 

The Board of Iftaa' Researches and Islamic Studies reviewed in the first session held on Thurdsday (24/Rabi' Al-Awal/1436 AH) corresponding to (15/01/2015 AD) and issued the following statement: 

Allah`s prophets and messengers are the best of all creation, the dearest to Him and the most honorable. He sent them as a guidance and a mercy to mankind, so insulting one of them is tantamount to insulting all of them because we, Muslims, make no distinction between any of Allah`s messengers for He, The Most Exalted Says in the Holy Quran (What means): "The Messenger believes in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and the believers; each one believes in God and His angels, and in His Books, and His messengers, 'we make no distinction between any of His messengers'. And they say, 'we hear and obey; your forgiveness, our Lord; to you is the homecoming'." [Al-Baqarah/285]. Therefore; We don't tolerate any minor distortion against our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

 

Those who have insulted the Messenger (PBUH) have no idea who he really is; they have committed their act out of ignorance, or in pursuit of some worldly profit. Had they reviewed his biography and personal attributes, they would have realized that he is a role model and a charismatic leader, and so they would have stood up in respect and admiration for this great Prophet. Allah has praised him in His Eternal Book (Quran) where He Says (What means): "And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character." [Al-Qalam/4].

 

The Board of Iftaa`, Research and Islamic Studies confirms that the insulting caricature published by the French satirical newspaper is a clear proof of intentional instigation of hatred and trial the world over, and it should be countered  with decisive measures. Therefore, Muslims shoulder the responsibility of defending the Prophet (PBUH) through applying his Quranic etiquettes, bringing out his beautiful image before the whole world, refuting suspicious matters targeting him and his biography, and abstaining from violence, terrorism and killing as these only lead to distorting the beautiful image of Islam and Muslims.

 

On its part, the Board calls for defending Islam as well as its honorable Prophet via various means of mass media, social and cultural events, initiating dialogue with influential parties and spreading his Sunna (Prophetic tradition) throughout the different aspects of daily life in order for us (Muslims) to be the best followers of the best of prophets and messengers.

What is the ruling on omitting the prostration of recitation?

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our Master, the Messenger of Allah.
 
The prostration of recitation (Sajdat al-Tilawah) is a Sunnah for both the reader and the listener. There is no sin in omitting it, though doing so results in missing a great reward. Muslim narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'When the son of Adam recites a verse of prostration and prostrates, Shaytan withdraws weeping, saying: "Woe to him! (and in the narration of Abu Kuraib: "Woe to me!") The son of Adam was commanded to prostrate and he prostrated, so Paradise is his; and I was commanded to prostrate and I refused, so the Fire is mine."'
 
Sheikh al-Islam Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) stated: 'It is recommended to prostrate immediately after reciting or hearing a verse of prostration. If one delays it but the interval is short, he may still prostrate. However, if the interval is long, the opportunity is missed.' [Rawdat al-Talibin Vol.1/P.323].
 
Furthermore, the prostration of recitation becomes obligatory (Wajib) in congregational prayer if the Imam prostrates, out of the necessity of following him. And Allah the Exalted knows best.

What is the wisdom behind the legislation of fasting?

Fasting is a divine school from which the believer learns much and trains in virtues that may be needed in life. Among these virtues is patience, as it is the month of patience. Fasting also teaches honesty and consciousness of Allah in both private and public, for there is no observer over the fasting person in abstaining from lawful pleasures except Allah alone.
Fasting strengthens willpower, sharpens determination, and nurtures mercy and compassion among the servants of Allah. It is a struggle against the self, a restraint of desires, a purification of the soul, and a cultivation of goodness.
The Prophetﷺ said: "Allah, the Almighty, said: ‘Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except for fasting; it is for Me, and I shall reward for it. Fasting is a shield. So when one of you is fasting on a day, let him not engage in obscene speech or raise his voice in anger. If someone insults him or fights him, let him say: I am a fasting person. By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk.’" [Bukhari and Muslim]

What is the ruling on discharges two or three days before the expected period of menstruation and the light-colored blood accompanying it? Must the woman abstain from prayer during this period?

If the total duration of these blood-tinged discharges reaches a day and a night (24 hours) or more, it is considered menstruation. If their total does not exceed 24 hours, it is not considered menstruation but is irregular bleeding (dam al-fasad). Each woman has specific cases for which she should ask the scholars. And Allah the Almighty knows best.

Is washing the private part after urinating (Istinjaa`) a condition, and is it done with water and soap, or with water only?

Istinjaa` is obligatory for removing impurity, and it can be done with toilet paper, or a stone, or water. It is preferable to do Istinjaa` first with paper, or stone, or the like, then to wash the private part with water until making sure that the impurity has been removed. Using soap is not a condition, but there is no harm in doing so provided that it is washed off with water. It is also permissible to use either water, or paper if impurity is removed by any.
