Resolution No.(51): “Ruling on Supporting the National Centre for Diabetes with Zakat  Funds“

Date: 9/5/1422 AH corresponding to 2/7/2001 AD.

 

The Board received the following question:

What is the ruling of Sharia on paying Zakat funds to the National centre for Diabetes?

Answer: All success is due to Allah.

The Board is of the view that it is permissible to pay Zakat funds in favor of treating poor Muslim patients afflicted with this disease since Zakat disbursement channels are restricted to the eight categories mentioned in the Quran: “Alms are for the poor and the needy, and those employed to administer the (funds); for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to Truth); for those in bondage and in debt; in the cause of God; and for the wayfarer: (thus is it) ordained by God, and God is full of knowledge and wisdom.” {At-Tawbah/60}. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a woman to apply Kuhul(Halal eyeliner) and go out wearing it?

Kuhul is part of a woman`s adornment, and it is forbidden for her to show that to anyone other than a husband , or a Mahram(Unmarriageable kin).

Is it permissible for a person who is in a state of Janabah(Ritual impurity) to clip his nails, or to cut his hair?

It is permissible for those in a state of Janabah and menstruation to clip their nails and to shave whatever hair that is permissible to be shaved.

What is the ruling of Sharia on Zina and what is the punishment for the unmarried man who commits this grave sin?

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.
 
The punishment for Zina (Adultery and extramarital relations) is the same for men and women: 100 lashes for the unmarried to be witnessed by a group of the believers. Definitely, this person has incurred the wrath of Allah; however, he must make repentance immediately, refrain from this grave sin, and seek Allah`s forgiveness. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

Is it permissible for me to name my newborn baby boy “Al-Moustafa” ?

There is no harm in naming your son “Moustafa” without using the ”Al”.
