Statement by the General Iftaa` Department on His Majesty King Abdullah II`s Decision Regarding the Restoration of the Lands of Baqoura and Ghamr

 

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

 

Allah the Almighty says {what means}: " Before this We wrote in the Psalms, after the Message (given to Moses): My servants the righteous, shall inherit the earth." {Al-Anbiyaa`, 105}.

 

The General Iftaa` Department appreciates the courageous stance of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to terminate the Baqoura and Al-Ghamr agreement, which represents a historic moment in the history of Jordan and the Jordanians.

 

This historic achievement is added to the record of the Hashemites, which is full of great accomplishments in preserving the Arab and Islamic identity, and defending lands and sanctities, including the Hashemite Custodianship over Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.

This wise decision achieves the noble royal vision that emanates from the constants of Jordanian sovereignty and aims to preserve every atom of the soil of this dear country so that Jordan remains dear and lofty, and the right returns to its owners.

 

In this occasion, we remember the sacrifices of the Arab Army in defending Jordan and preserving its dignity.

 

We pray that Allah protects Jordan under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Therapeutic injections administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly do not invalidate the fast because they do not enter the digestive tract through an open passage. However, intravenous injections containing nutritional fluids do break the fast, as they are akin to food and drink in effect. My husband wanted to sell a piece of land that was his own, but his father insisted that he transfer the land in his (the father’s) name so that he could sell it at a higher price. Then, my husband and his father would split the price. After my father-in-law sold the land, he denied everything and refused to acknowledge my husband’s right. My father-in-law passed away a year ago, and my husband’s brothers divided the inheritance, refusing to acknowledge that this land was a trust held by their father for my husband until it was sold. Among the rights of the deceased upon their heirs are: preparing them for burial at death, settling their debts, returning people’s rights to them, executing their will, and then dividing their estate. What was mentioned in the question falls under the rights of others, even if they are among the heirs, and the deceased is not absolved of it unless it is returned to its rightful owners. This is because Allah, Almighty, forbids consuming others' wealth/properties unjustly. However, do not give up on seeking a solution by involving righteous and well - respected individuals who may have influence over them, in the hope that Allah guides them to goodness and correctness. As for supplicating against them, the prayer of the oppressed is not rejected, even if the oppressed person is not a Muslim. And Allah knows best.
 
 
 
 
 

During a flight from Amman to the UAE, while we were flying over Saudi Arabia, the captain announced that it was time to break our fast, coinciding with the exact time of sunset. After I had broken my fast with my first date, the captain apologized for the earlier announcement and clarified that the correct time would be in 20 minutes. Am I required to continue fasting on that day?

Whosoever break his fast at teh very first announcement to make up the missed day of Ramadan, since Allah, The Most Exalted, Said (What means): "then complete your fast Till the night appears" [Al-Baqara/187]. And Allah Knows Best.

A man donated a burial plot, but before registering it in favor of the Ministry of Awqaf and before burying anybody there he said that he didn`t want to donate it and planted it. What is the ruling of Sharia on this?

If he had endowed it as a cemetery, then he can`t take it back, even if he didn`t register it in favor of the Ministry of Awqaf. If he said: "I have endowed this plot as a cemetery, then it becomes an endowment." However, if he didn`t endow that plot-but it was his intention to do so-then he is allowed to back down. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
