Question :

What is the ruling of Sharia on slaughtering Udhiyas (sacrificial animals offered in Eid Al-Addha) outside the country of the person offering them?



The Answer :

All perfect praise is due to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.


1. It is permissible to slaughter Udhiyas in another country, then distribute their meat in Jordan, because there is no specific place for the slaughtering process, and what counts is the distribution of their meat among the poor.


2. It is permissible to slaughter Udhiyas in another country, then can or freeze their meat to be distributed among the poor people of Jordan later on, because distributing their meat within a certain period of time isn`t an obligation. And Allah Knows Best.
