Question :

What is the Islamic ruling on reciting Qunut supplication in prayers and praying for the people of Gaza?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

It is recommended to recite Qunut supplication at times of calamity since the Prophet (PBUH) did that and the scholars have approved of it. Qunut is recommended in prayers performed congregationally and individually, both silent and loud, with the hope that Allah swiftly blesses our brothers in Gaza with relief and victory.

For the one performing prayer individually, Qunut supplication should be recited silently, not loudly. As for the Imam, it is to be recited loudly at all times, even in silent prayer, and the praying people should say "Amen" loudly.

During these difficult times, Muslims are undergoing different afflictions, as is the case in Gaza. Therefore, it is recommended for Muslims worldwide to recite Qunut supplication during prayers, silent and loud, and ask Allah to relieve our brothers in Gaza as soon as possible. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
