Question :
I`m a dermatologist living abroad. A colleague of mine asked me to apply for a license for a medical center, which offers skin treatment and cosmetic laser surgery, in Jordan using my own occupational license in return for a certain amount of money. Being overseas, I can`t supervise this facility`s various activities, such as injecting with fillers, Botox and laser to remove hair and pigments, in addition to other procedures. Is this permissible knowing that these physicians are competent and well-trained? Will I be held accountable before Allah for any misconduct happening without my knowledge?
The Answer :
Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.
It isn`t permissible for a Muslim to lease or rent his/her degree for investment in case he/she doesn`t supervise the activities of the center himself and doesn`t abide by rules and regulations.
A Muslim must be truthful since Allah the Almighty says: "O ye who believe! Fear God and be with those who are true (in word and deed)." {At-Tawbah, 119}. He/she must also abide by the rules and regulations pertaining to opening medical centers and which aim to achieve public interest. In addition, the Prophet (PBUH) says: "He who cheats us isn`t one of us." {Related by Muslim}.
Moreover, you will be held accountable, before Allah and law, for any mistake made in that facility. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
