Question :

Were all Prophets given miracles?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to The Lord of The Worlds, and may His Blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

Allah, The Almighty, Has Supported all his Prophets with miracles proving the truthfulness of their prophecy. Some of these were mentioned in the Noble Quran or the Sunnah while some weren`t. Although the names of some Prophets were never mentioned, it doesn`t mean that they didn`t exist or they had no miracles. Allah, The Almighty, Says (What means): "Verily We sent messengers before thee, among them those of whom We have told thee, and some of whom We have not told thee." {Ghafir/78}.

This idea is supported by the following Hadith in which the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Every Prophet was given miracles because of which people believed, but what I have been given, is Divine Inspiration which Allah Was Revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will outnumber the followers of the other Prophets on the Day of Resurrection." {Agreed upon}.

Ibn Hajar said: "The phrase (Every Prophet was given) indicates that every Prophet must have a miracle that makes people believe that he is speaking the truth, and no harm befalls him by those who insist on not believing. Moreover, the phrase (miracles) indicates that every Prophet was given one miracle or more that makes people believe in him. {Fatih al-Bari}. The aforementioned Hadith indicates that every Prophet was given a miracle; however, mentioning the miracles of some Prophets and Messengers while not mentioning those of others is Allah`s Will.

The fact that miracles of some Prophets weren`t mentioned in the texts of Sharia (The Quran and the Sunnah) doesn`t belittle them and doesn`t entail a legal ruling. And Allah Knows Best.
