Question :

An Islamic sect called "Al-Ahmadiyah" has recently emerged and it is spreading amongst the people of Jordan. This sect has gone astray and perverted the Islamic faith. Moreover, none of the Muslim scholars has tried to prove it wrong although we should all stand up to it. From an Islamic perspective, what should we counter this sect?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah The Lord of The Worlds, and may Hos Peace and Blessings be upo our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions.

The Ahmadi sect is also called "Al-Qadiyania." It is one of the misguided sects founded in India, it introduced some false beliefs, and gathered a group of devoted. Its founder is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Al-Qadiyani (Born in 1839; died in 1908). The term originates from Qadian, a small town in northern India. Some of the false beliefs of this sect is the Prophet hood of Mirza Ghulam Khan, reincarnation, denial of some religious duties of Islam, in addition to many other false things.

Consequently, according to the resolutions issued by the major Islamic Fiqh academies, this sect is Kafir and not Islamic, as agreed by all scholars.

Resolution No.(4), included in "Al-Majma` Journal" (109/1) of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy stated: "Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claimed being a Prophet, a Messenger, and having received revelation from Allah. However, this is a clear denial of the indisputably established facts of the religion of Islam since Mohammad (PBUH) is the seal of all Prophets and Messengers and no revelation was sent after his passing away. Therefore, this claim makes Mirza Gulam and his followers a group of apostates."

Resolution No.(3) of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy of the Muslim World League stated: "The council has unanimously decided that the Qadiyani sect, also known as "Al-Ahmadiya," is a non-Islamic sect and its followers are infidels and apostates. In addition, their pretending to be Muslim is a means of misleading and deceiving others. The Council of the Fiqh Academy declares that it is the duty of all Muslims, be they governments, scholars, writers, thinkers, and callers to Islam, to stand up to this misguided sect and its followers worldwide."

Nevertheless, judging that their beliefs are Kufr doesn`t mean that all Muslims associated with this sect are Kafir as well since this is the jurisdiction of Islamic courts and, here, we are examining doctrines and thoughts, not persons or individuals. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
