Facebook and other types of social media is a neutral subject. In other words, its ruling depends on the nature of its use. If it is used in lawful chats, spreading good, propagating Islam, receiving news and engaging in useful dialogues, then it is permissible and there is nothing wrong with using it.
Rather, it is incumbent upon a Muslim to use all means available to spread good and self-development. However, if it is used in chatting about promiscuous matters, spreading corruption, and corrupt acts, then it is impermissible. And Allah the Almighty Knows Best.
