Question :

Is it permissible for me to sever ties of kinship with my maternal-uncle because he has caused me a great deal of trouble?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

We advise you to fear Allah, overlook errors, forgive, let go of the past, and try to reconcile with your uncle once and for all. If you do so then Allah will reward you for keeping ties of kinship, winning hearts of relatives, and bearing harm in exchange for enjoying a pure and sound heart. However, if the situation is as bad as you have described then don`t severe ties with him permanently; rather, try to make it temporary and conditional since staying away could, sometimes, be healthier . And Allah Knows Best.
